Our History
GRSLLL was conceived by the directors of Gosford RSL Club and as such bears Gosford RSL in its name — an association and history of which we are proud. Since its inception GRSLLL has had its own corporate identity and is not owned or controlled by Gosford RSL Club in any way. This company is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints an executive team led by a Chief Executive Officer.
In 1987, after many years of planning and development the vision of the Directors of Gosford RSL Club became a reality when the very first retired club members, veterans and members of the general community moved into new purpose built village accommodation on the foreshore between Fagan’s Bay Narara Creek known as Gosford RSL Leisure Living. Between 1990 and 1992 the entry of the very first ‘Self Care’ residents was quickly followed by the entry of frail and aged people into the newly completed was hostel known as Yallambee Lodge.
The Gosford site now provides services for 149 Self Care Units; 106 ageing in place residents in Yallambee Lodge including low, high and dementia specific care and offers flexible community care through its community service known as Coast Home Help.
The first stage of GRSLLL’s first satellite residential aged care facility on the mid north coast, Tea Gardens Manor, opened in August 2011.
GRSLLL is committed to identifying gaps in community care and is currently working on a proposal to provide aged care packages to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (GLBTI) community. It is intended to make applications to the Commonwealth Government to fund these services.
