Our History In 1987, after many years of planning and development, the vision of the Directors and Management of Gosford RSL Club became a reality with the moving in of the very first retired club members, veterans and general community, who were to call this new retirement village and Aged Care Hostel – collectively known as Gosford RSL Leisure Living - their new home. Between 1990 and 1992 the entry of the very first ‘Self Care’ residents was quickly followed by the entry of retired people into the newly completed double story hostel. Gosford RSL Leisure Living now caters for 69 low care residents in ‘Yallambee Lodge’, 1 49 Self Care Units out in the village and an approved community Care Service provider, ‘Coast Home Help’, providing care services to aged veterans, and the wider community from all walks of life. In 2006, the construction of Yallambee Lodges’ High Care Wing was completed providing a further 22 spaces for the Aged with High Care needs. Until 1995 Gosford RSL Leisure Living operated without any external assistance, however due to the increasing costs of providing care, Yallambee Lodge applied for, and was successful in gaining Australian Government funding for some of its Aged Care places. Progressively, Yallambee Lodge sought to increase the government funding. By 2002 all placements were Government funded. Leisure Living was conceived by the directors of Gosford RSL Club thus bears Gosford RSL in its name — an association and history of which we are proud, since its inception Leisure Living has been a totally separate Company to that of the Club, i.e. it is not owned or controlled by Gosford RSL Club in any way. This was made possible by Government funding and the appointment of our own Chief Executive Officer and our own committee of Board Members. In our first strategic plan, the residents were promised a community centre. This plan was completed in September 2008 with the opening of our community centre. The community centre provides comfortable rooms for leisure activities to take place for our residents and their associates. |
